Messenger System
Being set in a vaguely medieval world, it stands to reason that the creatures who inhabit As’dra would have a means of quickly contacting one another via written or spoken correspondence. Enter the Messengers of Yggdrasil: strange creatures who see through the eyes of Yggdrasil rather than their own. The birds who appear to transport correspondence are loosely resemblant of ravens, but their pearlescent feathers, bone-smooth faces, and the world flowers blooming where eyes should be set them apart as something altogether unnatural.
Key Points
- Despite having no apparent eyes, these birds are very good at tracking movement, and do not seem to be blind at all.
- Other than relaying perfect copies of a message, the messengers do not speak.
- Messenger birds are somewhat robotic in nature; something seems off about them.
- Other than written letters, they can also carry small items for delivery.
- When summoned, they seem to appear from a rift of sorts in the world. Upon delivery of a message, they will wait for a response or disappear back into the rift.
- Attack or interception of a messenger bird will result in the bird and correspondence vanishing immediately. Delivery to the recipient will fail. (Information about how to perform these rolls will be provided in a future update.)
- All message content is considered confidential between the sender and recipient.
- Messengers on average take 2-4 days to deliver any correspondence.
- Characters who are being held as prisoners or captives cannot utilize the messenger system.
Sending a Message
- Create a thread in the Message Center; the thread title must include (but is not limited to) the name of the message recipient.
- Messages are sent in real-time when they are posted; you must wait a minimum of 2 days before sending a return message. During this time, a character may attempt to intercept the message before delivery.
- Messages are posted from the IC account that is sending the message.
- Messages can be assumed to be written or spoken based on player preference, but all follow the same posting method.
- Players may use a site provided posting template or create their own if desired.
