How to Join

Thank you for your interest in joining the Fernweh community!

We have a unique system for joining, and as such, have detailed information below:

Fernweh has a focus on “kingdoms” and actively encourages players to have their characters a part of the realms. As such, we operate on a system in which players may pick which realm (and furthermore, which city/settlement) they want their character to be in. Each player may only have two Vagabond (aka “loner”/”rogue”) characters that are not tied to any specific realm, this means that they have either recently moved into As’dra or relinquished their previous allegiance to a realm.

We have two styles of character acceptance:
  1. OOC Joining: This style means that your character has already been a citizen/resident of the realm of your choice for a time, be it recent to having spent their entire life there. It is entirely your choice how familiar with the realm they are and how much they know in terms of the culture. You can assume that a member of high rank accepted their residency through a thorough interview, or if they were born there, they should know the ranks of the realm relatively well — at least by name.
  2. IC Joining: With this option, you will create a new thread within the realm after your character has been accepted with intentions of your character applying for residency within the realm. Make sure to tag it appropriately so those of high stature know to post. The residency request should be made within the city of choice that your character is applying for. It can be assumed that NPC reception and guards are present. This is perfect for those wanting to get a vibe for the realm with their character before continuing onto the process. If your character is currently a Vagabond, they can also apply for residency with this method.
    1. Characters may be rejected in-character if the character interviewing deems it fit to do so — as such, it is recommended that you be on your best behavior during this process. If your character has been rejected, you will be given 14 OOC days to apply (start a new thread) at the other settlement, or another realm, before your character is considered a Vagabond. If you do not have a Vagabond spot open, your character will be given 30 OOC days to join or automatically be placed Inactive.
You may read more on Realms here.

Following your choice of Realm(s), please complete the following steps:
  1. Complete reading of our essential information: Rules, and Character Information. We encourage a glance through our Systems, as there are required Systems on Fernweh, such as Traveling, Fighting, and so forth.
  2. Register your OOC account. Username must be the OOC alias you will use on forum (and in our Discord). You may only have one OOC account.
    1. Should you wish to change your alias, you may change it through your User Control Panel (UCP -> Edit Profile -> Change Username).
    2. If you wish to “start fresh”, you may alert the Administration team. You may only have one Alias active at a time, and must not be deceitful (pretending to be two different people, for example).
  3. Register your first character account. Username must be your character's first name or a nickname that they primarily go by in proper capitalization (e.g. John, Bob, Sarah).
  4. Link your character account to your OOC account by clicking the UCP option at the top of your screen (navigation tree), and scrolling down to “Account Switcher”. Type your OOC account’s username and password, and select the option “Attach to Master Account”.
  5. Fill out your OOC and character profile.
    1. Required fields for character profiles are: OOC name, User ID, Full Name, Birthdate, Gender, Age, Size, Appearance, Coat Color, Eye Color, Mutations, and Personality. All other fields are optional.
    2. If you are putting a character under Hiatus status, you must also fill in the “Safe Assumptions” field.
  6. Post a new thread in our Welcome board. Players will have the choice between OOC (assumption that the character has been living in the settlement for a while) or IC (new to the area and applying for residence).
    1. Staff will review your application within 48-hours.
    2. A leader from the realm will then confirm acceptance.
