P by the light of a full moon

the world has been lightless for so long now that she can just barely remember what the sky used to look like at night. there was a time, months ago, when she could still perceive shadows; now, even that much is gone. still, there is one light in this ever-present darkness, and that is the presence of Lestari.
she's been a dear friend for a while now, and jyoti often finds herself exceedingly grateful for the woman's presence. without her, the total loss of what little sight jyo'd had left would surely have thrown her into a downward spiral. as it is, she's still not pleased about it, but... the loss isn't entirely unbearable. she's been prepared since cubhood for this inevitable future, but even with the knowledge that her eyes would fail completely one day, it's a difficult thing to accept. if she'd been born without sight, perhaps it would have been easier - if she'd never known sight, she'd never have had to miss it. perhaps it wouldn't feel so much like a loss if it were something she'd never had. still, she's adjusting and coping better than she'd ever hoped she would, and that's all thanks to lestari. jyo has little time to fall into depression when she's too busy getting into various shenanigans with her bestie, after all. if she were a more emotional sort, she'd probably cling to poor lestari's side, sobbing her gratitude for the woman staying with her through everything. thankfully for both of them, jyoti is... not cold, but rather... very controlled. perhaps even repressed, one might say. it they want their face rearranged, that is.
